We're thrilled to be able to present this amazing doll on our newest research page--
TC's doll has sparked new interest among Hitty Friends to dig up Hitty's Real History!

Hitty, or Mehitabel, is a real, antique wooden doll, purchased in a NYC Antique shop in the 1920s. Rachel Field and Dorothy Lathrop wrote and illustrated an imaginary, first-person biography of Hitty's adventures, published in 1929. Hitty, Her First Hundred Years won the Newberry Award in 1930 and has remained popular with generations of readers. Hitty is often lonely in her story, but today she is a famous and beloved doll. Hitty is kept safe in the expert care of curator Barbara Allen in the Stockbridge Library Historical Room in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, and receives frequent visits from her ever-growing legions of friends and admirers.

Whether you're a long-time fan, or have just discovered Hitty, the Hitty Research Pages are for you. Hitty.org exists to offer free information about Hitty, including our famous Original Hitty Doll photography, and a comprehensive Hitty Links Directory to help you find your way around in Hitty Land.
