guide when creating Hitty's Desk.
As an alternative, to save from the expense of having to purchase a 4" x 24" piece of 3/16" thick Bird's-eye Maple, the desk can be slightly scaled down as shown above, and made from a standard 3" x 24" piece of hobby lumber 1/8" thick, such as Mahogany, Walnut, or Cherry.
The revised overall dimensions would be: 3 1/4" W x 3 1/2"
H x 3" D For this scaled down version, the following pieces are required:
Back: 3" W x 3 1/2" H
Sides (2): 3" W x 3 1/2" H
Lower Shelf: 3" W x 1 1/8" D
Upper Shelf: 3" W x 2 1/4 D
Front Piece: 3" W x 3/8" H
Desk Lid: 2 31/32" W x 2" D
Desk Top: 3" W x 3/4" D
