CAMP ASH GROVE-A Tour of Stockbridge-June/July 2004-page10

The Corner House

After they had seen everything there was to see at the library, the Ash Grove Campers were anxious to explore more of Stockbridge.

"It's like a Mystery, History," Said Hitty Marigold, and was mystified once again as the junior counselors couldn't help giggling and hugging her.

"She's right, though," said Hitty Priscilla, "It IS like a mystery! The first place Bertie Shakespeare Drew wants to photograph is the corner house, and it said on the display in the museum that Rachel Field used to visit her relatives in the Corner House years after she lived in Stockbridge. BUT, the Corner House was later the Norman Rockwell Museum, and Norman Rockwell painted Stockbridge Main Street at Christmas, and the Stockbridge Library is IN the painting!"

Hitty Priscilla is right. There's lots to learn about Norman Rockwell in Stockbridge! Here are some great links:
The Norman Rockwell Museum at Stockbridge -the museum offers extensive information about Norman Rockwell on-line, and has Stockbridge Main Street at Christmas as a part of it's collection.
Stockbridge Main Street At Christmas Event -based on the painting, which you can see in full at the top of the page. The building farthest to the left is Stockbridge Library!

Norman Rockwell Museum History Page -You can see a picture of the Corner House at the top of this page, and learn more about the museum's establishment at Corner House.

A flowery fountain stood right between the library and the corner house.
