CAMP ASH GROVE-A Tour of Stockbridge-June/July 2004-page2

The outside of the library was lovely, and the inside lived up to its promise. What a perfect setting for Hitty! The historical room was downstairs and all of the Camp Ash Grove Hittys wntin to see the Original Hitty, as well as the numerous other fine exibits in library historical museum. The areas displaying the historic collection were redesigned recently, and a whole new room created for Hitty and the rest of the collection, with upgraded storage conditions. Good news for our Hitty, said the girls! In fact, Hitty told the Ash Grove girls a number of things when they got very close and listened carefully, although Julie and Sara couldn't hear a thing.

"Really, how glad I am to see all of you today!" Said the famous Hitty Preble to the admiring Ash Grove Campers. "You are the first big group of dolls to come and visit me since I came out of storage in this comfortable new room, although I must admit I very much enjoyed a recent visit from a large group of schoolchildren, such lively, interested faces!"

Most of the girls couldn't say a word, but Hitty chatted amiably with the counselors and every once in awhile she could draw out one of her many namesakes with just the right question. It must be said that the charming and dignified Hitty Preble is as magnificent and stunning a lady as she has unfailingly been reputed to be. One cannot fail to feel the very great aura and presence of a character of such wide experience and proven wisdom, but Miss Preble's exposure to such a parade of admiring visitors in recent years has polished the gentle social graces she always possessed.
